How to Open Locks
Without Keys or Picks

This is a bit different, but it's worth having because it deals with situations wherein you might need to look for an alternative to picking in order to open a customer's locked door without damage.

Let's face it, some locks won't pick. Whether due to poor condition of hardware, damage already inflicted by someone else, or simply a particularly obstinate tumbler combination; there will be occasions when picking isn't going to work. Some of the techniques put forth here verge on the brutal approach, but the author does stress caution in order to avoid damaging property.

THE CAR OPENING BUSINESS

You can't have too much information when it comes to setting out in a brand new business. This manual approaches the industry in a slightly different way than does Lock Picker's own ebook, and I have always maintained that you should equip yourself as completely as you possibly can. The cost of this book is well worth the content

Locksmithing has its funny side, and nowhere is it better dealt with than in this small but honestly funny collection of true life vignettes.

The author is a much better locksmith than he is an author, but look beyond the simplistic writing style and enjoy his wit and dry humor. You'll read of escapades involving some of New York's strangest citizens, some of them famous or nearly so.

For the price, I highly recommend adding this delightful book to your otherwise dry and serious locksmithing resources. You'll be better for it.

ADVANCED LOCKPICKING SECRETS

If you already have Steven Hampton's "Secrets of Lock Picking", I highly recommend you pick up this more advanced sequel as a companion. Though little in the text actually deals with lock picking in the usual sense, it goes into schematics and electronics, offering methods of bypassing magnetic locks and the like.

NOT good as a basic lock picking manual.

This is unquestionably one of the best written books available that undertakes to teach the basic concept of how to pick locks - I would have to say that it is a "must have" manual, even if you already have Lock Picker's Mall's own HOW TO PICK LOCKS manual!

There is a little "McGuyver" in all of us, and perhaps a healthier portion in the average locksmith than in most common folk. Hampton's approach to lock picking is refreshing because he emphasizes a creative and improvisational frame of mind. You'll learn how to pick locks even if you don't happen to have a lock pick handy!

LOCK BYPASS METHODS

This book shows non-destructive ways to open locks if you lose your keys. Since your resources are usually on the other side of the door when you're locked out, it shows how to improvise tools from garbage and common, everyday items.

Multiple entrance options are provided in case of stubborn doors or limited materials. This is excellent practical knowledge to have if you ever need it. You will learn how to open locks safely and efficiently without keys or damage. Learn how to make and properly use lock picks, build a pick gun and a plug spinner, and use bump keys to work the lock.

You will also learn many different ways to bypass the lock entirely: disassemble doorknobs from the outside, use tools to activate spindles and linkages (the parts that connect locks to their latches) and ways to directly access the latch or the unlocking switches. Learn to open double-locking police handcuffs with a bobby pin.

Create tools to open house or car doors with such materials as masking tape and bucket handles. Ways to defeat locked doorknobs, deadbolts, padlocks, car doors and trunks, etc. by exploiting design weaknesses.
