LAT-17 Snap Gun

This is the manual pick gun offered by SouthOrd Tools . . . fashioned after the classic design.  The LAT-17 is priced right for most Locksmiths, yet the quality is definitely there.

It will accept any of the pick needle assortments, as the locking feature is identical to that found on HPC, Lockaid, Majestic and Brockhage guns of similar design.

The knurled tension wheel is smooth and effective, imparting more or less energy to the bottom pins as desired.

SouthOrd developed this manual pick gun to compete with the better known HPC and Lockaid models, and they succeeded to a high degree. The Snap Gun has become one of their trademark products, with its distinctive light green color and the general look and feel of precision it carries with it.

The LAT-17 Snap Gun has the same basic features as any of the other manual pick guns on the market. The design itself evolved over time from the bent wire hand pick that had the same profile but lacked the mechanical action that is used in the modern manual gun.

I have used LAT-17 Snap Gun often enough to attest to its effectiveness. There is a nice feel to the tool while putting it to use, with crisp action and good balance. The adjusting wheel, which is used to alter tension on the pick needle, is nice and smooth and does what it`s supposed to do.
