Competition among locksmith tool providers has always been sharp and it is not a field for the faint of heart. If you plan to put your tools up against the likes of HPC, Southord, Peterson and the like, you'd better have more than just good looking stuff. We've found that Sparrows -- a fairly new company operating out of Canada -- has the chops to do well in the industry. We were provided with an assortment of Sparrows picks by the manufacturer to test and otherwise measure. We found they were exceptionally well made, with attention to balance, weight and, of course, quality of materials. We spent weeks working with their Flash Snap Gun, which strikes us as one of the more solid and reliable of the many versions of this well tested design. It performed equal to the venerable Lockaid gun which, to us, has always been the one to beat.

Another thing that impresses me about Sparrows is that they supply useful, detailed information about each of their pick sets.  This detail extends even to descriptions of each individual pick within a set.  This is not the norm.  Most other, if not ALL other, pick manufacturers stop at naming each pick within a particular set and some don't even do that.   With Sparrows, you get helpful tips in the descriptive information -- something especially important for beginners who may not yet understand the strengths of each specific pick style.  When do you need a rake as opposed to a half diamond?  That's the kind of info found within Sparrow's product descriptions.  This is going way beyond the expected.

MEET THE WIZWAZZLE

Of all the pick sets in Sparrow's offerings, we found the generous assortment they quizzically call the Wizwazzle to be perhaps the most striking.  "Generous" is a weak word here, as this assortment is heavy on number and light on price, without sacraficing one iota of quality.  If you can believe it, you get no less than 18 tension wrenches in this grouping, along with 11 of their best pick styles and it all comes in a heavy duty, very durable, very USEFUL case.
